1
Collect the materials for this project from yard sales and your local home improvement warehouse. You can also find water pumps for fountains at online retailers and old coffee pots from auction sites like eBay. You could also choose to use a ceramic coffee pot and planter for this project.

2
Seal any openings in your copper planter with plumber's putty so that the planter is watertight. Stand the copper tubing against the inside edge of the planter and adhere it with waterproof adhesive wherever it touches.

3
Cover the pump with the stocking to protect the mechanisms from outdoor debris. Attach the pump to the brick with the rubber band. Attach the plastic tubing to the pump and brace the brick and the pump against the copper tubing.
-
4
Feed the plastic tubing from the pump up inside the copper tubing. Secure it with duct tape if it's loose. Insert the 6-inch piece of plastic tubing into the top of the copper tubing.
-
5
Insert one end of the hook into the top of the copper tubing, wedged against the plastic tubing. Hang the coffee pot on the hook and tilt it so that the spout of the coffee pot is facing over the planter. Secure the coffee pot in place with waterproof adhesive where it touches the copper tubing. Brace it with duct tape until the adhesive dries.

6
Fill both the planter and the coffee pot with water before you turn on the pump.
