Make a Baby Bootie Bouquet

Before baby booties are needed to cover those cute little baby toes, use baby booties to create a baby bootie bouquet. A baby bootie bouquet makes an attention-grabbing centerpiece for a baby shower. You can also give a new mother a baby bootie bouquet to congratulate her after the baby's birth. Creating rose buds from baby booties allows you to create a floral-like bouquet. However, instead of wilting flowers, the new mother can choose to keep the baby bootie bouquet to decorate the nursery or use the six pairs of baby booties for her new little one's feet.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baby booties
  • Floral wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Green floral tape
  • Flower vase
  • Silk plant filler
  • Baby's breath
  1. Step 1

Lay your baby bootie flat on your work surface. Roll your baby bootie from the toe end to the ankle end. Three rolls is all it should take to create a baby bootie rose bud for you baby bootie bouquet. Turning the toe of the bootie up, roll it parallel to the ankle opening. You will reach the heal with the first roll. Continue with two more rolls of the baby bootie. Do not roll the baby bootie too tightly.

  2. Step 2

Hold the baby bootie rose bud together with one hand. Fold the ankle opening inside out around the rolls halfway up the baby bootie rose bud.

  3. Step 3

Create a dozen baby bootie rose buds by repeating steps 1 and 2.

  4. Step 4

Cut the floral wire using wire cutters into 12 pieces measuring 1 foot each. Insert one wire 1 inch into each baby bootie rose bud. Do not allow the wire to poke through the baby bootie.

  5. Step 5

Wrap green floral tape around the baby bootie starting just below the edge of the bootie ankle. Continue wrapping the green floral tape around the bootie and down the wire several inches. The green floral tape and wire creates the baby bootie rose bud stem.

  6. Step 6

Arrange the silk plant greenery, baby's breath and baby bootie rose buds in a vase to create your baby bootie bouquet. To add stability and enable easier arranging, place glass stones in the vase, filling it half way.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select two or three colors or shades of a color for your baby booties. This adds dimension and variety to your baby booty bouquet. Rolling the baby booties into rose buds takes a little practice. However, once you get the hang of it each baby bootie rose bud should only take 5 minutes to make.
  • When wrapping the baby bootie rose bud with green floral tape, make sure the tape is binding the bulk of the baby bootie inside the rolls. If too much of the bootie escapes binding, the rose bud will unfurl.
