Dry frizzy hair

No matter how diligent people are with taking care of their hair, there comes a time when it needs a little personalized attention. Daily use of chemicals in shampoos and conditioners, sun damage and general pollutants all take their toll and can cause the hair to become dry and frizzy. To treat frizzy hair without adding more chemicals to it, try making this homemade deep conditioner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh avocado
  • Blender
  • Small jar of mayonnaise
  • 1/2 can of coconut milk
  • Shower cap
  • Towel
  • Hot water
  • Baby shampoo
  1. Step 1

Peel the avocado and chop it into chunks. Put the pieces into the blender but do not mix them yet.

  2. Step 2

Add 1 cup of real mayonnaise to the avocado.

  3. Step 3

Add 1/2 cup of coconut milk to the mayonnaise and avocado.

  4. Step 4

Put the cover on the blender and put on "Chop" for 15 seconds, and then "Puree" for 30 seconds. Pour into a bowl or plastic container.

  5. Step 5

Put your head over a sink or the bathtub and coat your hair with the mixture. Start 1 inch from the scalp, as the roots of your hair are not in need of as much deep conditioning as the length of your hair is.

  6. Step 6

Loosely pile your hair on your head and cover with a shower cap.

  7. Step 7

Run a towel under very hot water and wring the excess water out. Place the warm towel over your head and around the shower cap. Leave it on your head for 40 minutes.

  8. Step 8

Rinse your hair well, and shampoo with a mild baby shampoo.

Tips & Warnings
  • After shampooing you can spray the ends of the hair lightly with a leave-in conditioning treatment if desired.
  • Never use anything but real mayonnaise. Don't put the avocado mixture directly on the scalp, as it is quite oily and you may have to use excessive shampoo rinsing it out, which will defeat the purpose of the deep conditioning treatment.
