How to Fix a Snowblower Tire
When winter rolls around and the snow starts piling up, you don't want to be stuck using a shovel. Make you to keep your snowblower in top running condition during the winter and before storing it away each spring. While snowblowing you can easily run over a sharp object or nail making a tire on it flat and taking the snowblower out of commission. But fixing a snowblower tire is easy with the proper techniques and tools. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Ratchet strap
- Flathead screwdriver
- Air compressor
- Tire patch repair kit
- Block of wood
- Wrench & socket set
- Pliers

Prop the axle of the flat tire on a block of wood. Unbolt the tire and lay it flat on the floor.

Stick the flathead screwdriver between the rim and the inner tire lip. Pry the inner tire edge over the outside of the rim. Flip the tire over and push the tire off the rim completely.

Run your hand gently and slowly along the inside of the tire. Feel for for a nail or sharp object. Once you feel it, look on the outside of the tire to locate where the nail or object made the hole. Use your pliers to pull the object out, but keep you finger on the area on the inside of the tire.

Take the tire patch out of the package and stick it to the inside of your tire with the hole in the center of the patch. Use the roller in tire patch kit to firmly press the patch into the inner side of the tire.

Place the tire over the rim. Put a hand on each side of the tire and push down on the tire until it is on the rim. You may need to use the screwdriver to finish prying it on.

Wrap the strap around the outer circumference of the tire. Ratchet the strap tight until the inner edge of the tire begin to touch the inner edges of the rim.

Put enough air in the tire (10 to 15 seconds) until the tire seal forms against the rim. Remove the strap and finish airing the tire up to the specified psi.

Reattach the wheel to the snowblower and set the snowblower off of the block of wood.

Tips & Warnings
If the snowblower tire has multiple holes or a cut in it, than it is unpatchable and you will have to install a new tubeless snowblower tire the same way you would in the steps above. You can get a tire patch kit at auto stores.
