How to Hang Curtain Tie Backs

Many times curtain tie-backs are an afterthought, but sometime they're that extra thing that makes the curtains "pop." Installing the hardware to hang curtain tie-backs on isn't that hard. If you can operate a screwdriver and use a measuring tape, you'll be able to do this little project yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

      Purchase or make your tie-backs.

    • 2

Buy the hardware that the tie-backs will be attached to. You should be able to find an assortment of styles of tie-back hardware at your local home-supply store. Take into account the style of the curtains and the room they're in when choosing your tie-back hardware.

    • 3

Measure the wall and place a pencil mark at the spot where you will install the first piece of tie-back hardware. Repeat this process on the other side of the window. Make sure both hardware pieces are aligned at the same height and distance from the window frame. It's one of those things your company might not notice, but you will for the rest of the time the hardware is mounted there. Take a few moments more and get your measurements right.

    • 4

Hold the first hardware piece up to one of the marks on the wall. If there are several screw holes, place a pencil mark on the wall in the center of each one. This will make it easier when you are inserting the screws, because you'll have your marks to go by. Using a screwdriver, insert the screws through the hardware and into the wall. Tighten the screw until the tie-back hardware is snug against the wall. Repeat this process on the other side.

    • 5

Attach the back section of one of your curtain tie-backs to the back section of the first mount. Pull the tie-back behind the curtain and wrap it around the front, pulling the curtain with it. Once you've got the tie-back straight, attach the front side to the hardware. Your curtain should now be contained by the tie-back you just installed. Repeat on the other side.
