      Purchase cotton pants or jeans that are not preshrunk or prewashed. While any cotton garment will shrink at least a little as a result of this process, a garment that has not been previously shrunk will shrink a lot.

      Turn your washing machine to its highest hot water setting and its longest washing setting, and wash the pants.

      Take the pants out of the washer and put them in the dryer. Set the dryer for the highest heat setting and dry the pants. After drying, leave them in the dryer for about half an hour.
