Ribbon is used for many purposes, from decorating presents to holding back hair. Ribbon roses are the easiest way to replicate a rose, and the process is simple and useful. Ribbon roses can be used as accessories to clothing, hair styles, decorations and fabric embellishments, to name a few.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 foot of ribbon per one rose, various colors and styles 1 foot of green ribbon, amount per rose depends on size of rose Hot glue gun Glue sticks Working space Scissors
  1. Step 1

Decide what color ribbon you want to use. Buy a couple different colors and types, such as satin, velvet, cotton, etc. This, of course, depends upon how many roses you are going to make. Make sure to get a length of green ribbon to use as the leaves.

  2. Step 2

Cut out 1 foot of ribbon for each rose. This amount will provide you with a medium-to-small-sized rose. Use 1 1/2 feet for larger roses, and 1/2 foot for smaller roses.

  3. Step 3

Lay the ribbon in front of you. Using your fingertips of each hand, roll the length of ribbon up as you would roll sushi or a towel. It is up to you how tight you want to roll it. The tighter the roll, the more intricate the rose will end up looking.

  4. Step 4

Use the hot glue gun to dab some glue onto the end piece when you are done rolling up the rose in order to secure it. Let dry. Take your fingertips and squeeze one end of the ribbon rose together in order to feather out the other side, making it look larger and more full, like a rose. Position the fabric until you are satisfied, then use the hot glue gun to secure the pinched in side. Let dry.

  5. Step 5

Take the length of green ribbon and fold it in half. Fold it in half again from the other side where the fabric wasn't looped. It should appear as two loops on either side. Use the hot glue gun to secure this with a couple of dabs of glue.

  6. Step 6

Let dry and trim as you desire to shape the leaves.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with ribbon that have a different thickness and texture to see what appears best to you.
  • Always be careful when working with a hot glue gun.
