Hook Up a PS3 to a Wireless Network

All PlayStation 3 systems have the ability to connect to a wireless network. Once your system is connected to your home network, you'll be able to browse the Internet and download games and movies. Wireless networks vary, but you should be able to connect your PS3 to your network by using this process. If you have an Ethernet cable plugged into the system, unplug it before you begin.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3 and make sure the disc tray is empty. Once the main menu bar appears, scroll to "Settings."

    • 2

Choose "Network Settings" from the sub-menu. Then, select "Internet Connection Settings."

    • 3

Select "Yes" to confirm that you want to disconnect from the Internet. Select the "Easy" option in the next screen.

    • 4

Choose "Wireless" to select your connection method. Then, select "Scan." The PS3 will scan for Internet access points in the area.

    • 5

Choose your home network from the list of local networks that are within range. Select your security settings and enter your encryption key, if applicable.

    • 6

Save your settings and select the "Test Connection" option to connect to the Internet. If the connection is successful, your network information will appear on the screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the PS3 does not connect to the Internet, follow the on-screen directions to check your settings.
