Taking a bath is one of the happiest times of day for any child. It can be even more fun with the right bath toys. Bath toys give kids something to focus on while you help clean them up, and they make children feel more comfortable in the water. There are plenty of bath toys you can buy, but any number of household objects make excellent bath toys as well. You can even canvass your local thrift store for thrown away kitchen items that will keep your child entertained for long periods of splashy fun.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small spray bottles Bubble bath Measuring cups and spoons Popsicle stick Mirror Washcloth Scissors Needle and thread Plastic containers Soup ladle
  1. Step 1

Use a soup ladle and small plastic Tupperware containers from the kitchen. Have your child dole out batches of bath water soup into various containers. They float in the water, and the ladle sinks to the bottom and is fun.

  2. Step 2

Pick up a set of thrift store measuring cups and measuring spoons. The nesting cups make great bath water scoops for filling and refilling. Your child can play doctor, giving out medicine with the measuring spoons.

  3. Step 3

Take an old colored washcloth and cut it into a simple fish shape. Use fabric scraps for circle eyes and a fabric mouth and sew them to the fish to make the washcloth into a fun bath time friend. Your child will enjoy washing up with her fish cloth.

  4. Step 4

Pick up some small spray bottles at the dollar store. Fill with soapy water and have your child spray himself clean. He will also enjoy spraying and wiping the tub walls clean.

  5. Step 5

Add bubble bath as the tub is filling up. Prop a hand mirror up against the wall of the tub. Give your child a Popsicle stick. Have him cover his face and tummy with bubbles and have him practice "shaving" off the bubbles with the Popsicle stick.
