Things You'll Need:
- PVC pipe large enough for a potato to fit inside 3 PVC pipe caps that can be popped on and off Air compressor Drill Pipe clamp Heavy hold glue Saw Rubber ring with a ¼-inch hole
-
Step 1
Cut the pipe to around 3 feet in length. The length does not matter that much, but a longer barrel produces a longer shot length. Make sure the edges are smooth and cut evenly. The caps have to fit snugly for this to work.
-
Step 2
Take one of the pipe caps and drill a hole in the middle the same size as the air compressor nozzle. Make sure it fits snugly inside the cap. You will need to make sure that it is completely sealed, so install a rubber ring around the hole to keep the air from escaping. Glue the rubber ring into place.
-
Step 3
Take the pipe cap and stick it over one end of the pipe. Put some glue around the cap sides before sticking it onto the pipe. Next take the pipe clamp and tighten it around the cap as much as possible. You do not want that end of the pipe to come loose or the gun will not fire properly. Allow the glue to dry for two to three days.
-
Step 4
Attach the nozzle of the air compressor to the inside of the pipe through the hole in the cap. Make sure the air cannot come out of that side of the pipe at all. If it does, then add extra sealers to the cap to make sure it doesn't leak air anymore.
-
Step 5
Place a potato inside the pipe and place the other cap over the other end of the pipe. Turn the air compressor on and make sure nothing is in firing line of the potato gun that you don't want to break. Make sure people stand behind the shooter. The pressure will build up inside the pipe until it is enough to shoot the potato out of the gun along with the pipe cap.
