How to Use a Pendulum to Find Answers
Using a pendulum to find answers to questions or to tell the future is a popular and easy divination tool. It works on the theory that the pendulum is guided by energy either from a spiritual being, God or yourself to guide it to the correct answer to your question. You don't have to be a psychic or medium to construct and use a pendulum; anyone can do it.

1
Choose an object to hang from your chain or string. A natural object such as a crystal is a popular option in ready-made pendulums. Raymond Buckland in his book, "Secrets of Gypsy Love Magick," advises to use a wedding ring for a pendulum that is used to divine matters of the heart, such as who you will marry. The main things when choosing an object are to make sure it has enough weight to hold the string taut and that it is balanced. You want to avoid objects such as irregular stones as these may cause the string to pull in one direction.

2
Divide a piece of paper in half, and label each half with an answer to your question. An example would be "yes" and "no." If you are trying to decide between colleges, for example, you may write the names of two colleges. If there are more than two possible answers, there are a couple of ways you can do it. You can start with two answers, take the one the pendulum chooses, team it with another answer and use the pendulum a second time, or you can divide the paper into how many answers there are and write an answer in each section.

Tie the object onto the string, and hold the loose end of the string between your forefinger and thumb of the hand you write with. Rest your elbow on the table, and hold the string so your pendulum hangs 1 inch above the paper. Hold it perfectly still, and wait. The pendulum will begin to swing toward one of the answers on your paper. This will be the answer you are looking for.

Tips & Warnings
If the pendulum doesn't swing, that means none of the answers are the correct answer. You can use a pendulum with no paper. If the pendulum swings clockwise, the answer is yes; if counterclockwise, the answer is no.
Store your pendulum in a cloth bag so it doesn't absorb energy from others.
