Things You'll Need:
- Picture wire Metal screws Long wood screws Drill Laser Level Z Hanger w/ hardware Drill Laser Level
-
Step 1
Install the first part of a Z hanger for heavy mirrors on the back of the mirror. You will need to screw it into the frame with metal screws that can be purchased with the hanger or separately. A Z hanger has two parts, one for the mirror and one for the wall. They lock together and hold the mirror in place.
-
Step 2
Install the second part of the hanger on the wall. Use a laser level and draw a line to hang the wall part of the hanger straight. Use the screws that come with it or purchase some long wood screws. The Z hanger comes with pre-drilled holes every 4 inches so you can match them up to the studs in the wall.
-
Step 3
Have someone help you slide the mirror section onto the wall section to hang.
-
Step 1
Purchase picture hanging wire for the weight of your mirror. The wire will come in many different weight limits, make sure you get one heavy enough to hold your mirror.
-
Step 2
Screw metal screws into the frame if you do not already have welded hangers on the back of the frame. A weld will be much stronger than just screws. Attach the wire so it has some arc to it but not so much it hangs above the mirror. Place the ends of the wire around each screw and wrap the wire around the ends. Wrap the opposite way the wire will pull when it is hung.
-
Step 3
Screw long wood screws into two studs in the wall where you want to hang the mirror. Use a laser level to make sure you screw them in a straight line. Leave only a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the screw protruding from the wall.
-
Step 4
Lift the mirror up and hang the wire on the screw in the wall. Adjust the mirror on the wire to make it straight.
