While methods vary, making it involves a simple process that requires few ingredients leaving you with a creamy, sweet dessert that will impress your family or a table of dinner guests.   • 2 cups Water 1 cup White rice 2 cups Hot, whole milk 1 cup Sugar or 1 can sweetened condensed milk Medium saucepan with lid

Instructions

      Add the water to the saucepan and bring to a boil.

      Stir in rice and simmer, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes until the rice is cooked.

      Add milk and sugar, or milk and can of sweetened condensed milk, to the rice. Mix well.

      Bring to a boil and allow to thicken to desired consistency. It will thicken upon cooling as well.

      Serve warm or cooled with cinnamon on top.

Tips & Warnings

  • In small towns around Brazil, raw milk straight from the farmer is used and makes a creamy sweet-rice. Try using Arborio rice for creamy results. Experiment with coconut milk for a different flavor.

  • Keep your eye on the pan the whole time, and stir often to keep the milk from burning.
