How to Enjoy the Butterfly Farm in Key West, FL
Whether you are in Key West on vacation or if you are just passing through on a cruise, make sure you get to the Butterfly Farm. It's one attraction that can't be missed. Hundreds of butterflies from all over the world soar past you, making the setting serene and relaxing. Since different types of butterflies reside in different areas of the world, you may never get to see them all unless you travel extensively.

Learn more about butterflies by visiting the Learning Center. Start off by watching a 15-minute film, view a world map depicting the origins of various types of butterflies, and make sure sure to catch the exhibit of live caterpillars.

Take a leisurely stroll through the indoor Butterfly Conservatory. View 60 species of butterflies from all over the world in various shapes and colors. Some look like piano keys, while others look like the back of a tiger or a leaf. Sit by the man-made stream and enjoy the classical music playing as a kaleidoscope of colorful butterflies soar throughout the room.

Visit the Butterfly Gallery containing the Wings of Imagination exhibit. This exhibit showcases art work by Sam Trophia, consisting of butterflies displayed in airtight clear acrylic cases. Butterflies for this exhibit are not killed. Trophia uses butterflies that have died naturally.

Stop by the gift shop to purchase a souvenir. Items can be purchased or shipped anywhere in the world. Sam Trophia's art work is for sale in the gift shop in all shapes and sizes, for all budgets.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure you bring your camera with you. There are many photo opportunities.
While in the Butterfly Conservatory be careful where you are walking and sitting. Butterflies fly everywhere and it's easy to step on them or sit on them. Before leaving the Conservatory itself, make sure you stop and check your clothes to be sure that there are no butteflies on you that you will take outside when you leave.
