Curly hair frames the face beautifully, elicits complements from total strangers and gives even the most hardened criminal an angelic face. Yet, ask someone with curly hair what she thinks of it and she will sigh and complain about the frizz. While curly hair is beautiful, it does require special care. A homemade deep conditioner will prevent and repair split ends, boosting the health and shine factor of your hair. With just a few recipes you can "go green" and ensure that what you are putting on your curly hair is cruelty-free as well as toxin-free.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Honey Olive oil Egg Baby oil Avocado Real mayonnaise Coconut milk Jojoba oil Banana
  1. Step 1

Mix 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup olive oil with one egg. Stir until mixed. Apply to your hair by starting at the top then smoothing down to the ends. Add a little baby oil for extra moisturizing.

  2. Step 2

Mash a ripe avocado with 1 cup of real mayonnaise until mixed together. Apply to your hair until coated thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

Mash a ripe avocado in a small bowl then slowly pour in 1/2 cup coconut milk, or until the mixture resembles the thickness of hair conditioner. Add a little olive oil for dryer hair. Smooth through your hair until coated.

  4. Step 4

Warm 2 teaspoons jojoba oil and two teaspoons olive oil in a small pot. The mix will warm very fast so watch it closely. Rub the oils gently into your hair, applying extra at the ends.

  5. Step 5

Mash one banana with 1/2 cup honey and 2 teaspoons jojoba oil. Mix until well blended then smooth onto your hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • For best results apply the deep conditioner then wrap your hair in a warm towel. Ouidad, the "Queen of Curl" suggests that you leave deep conditioners in for a full 20 minutes to let the ingredients do their work. To boost the conditioner's results, use a blow dryer on the lowest setting. Deep condition your hair every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the needs of your hair. If you have long hair, double the batches.
  • Homemade deep conditioners should only be made one batch at a time and should not be cooled in the refrigerator before use.
