How to Clean a 20 Gauge Shotgun

      Slide the shotgun pump all the way forward and remove the pump barrel from the top piece by unscrewing the cap with a screwdriver. Place the pieces where you can easily find them.

      Unscrew the shotgun barrel from the stock. Wet down a cleaning patch with solvent and place it on the end of the barrel brush. Run the barrel brush up and down the shotgun barrel to clean out dust and oils.

      Remove used patch from the tip of the barrel brush and replace with a clean dry cleaning patch. Again, place the patch on the tip of the barrel brush and run it up and down the barrel to dry it out.

      Place a small amount of gun oil on a new cleaning patch. Then using the barrel brush, run it don the gun barrel to oil the inside.

      Lubricate the pump rail with a few drops of Teflon oil.

      Reassemble the shotgun.
