Many of us would like to be able to put up a web page of our own, but don't know how to do it. We have no knowledge of HTML, and find the web page editors like Dreamweaver and Expression Web incomprehensible. But it is possible to sign up for a a site--even a free one--and quickly and easily create a simple web page. If you want to create a very basic web page to show as a sample to your friends or students of what they can do themselves, a few basic steps can help you do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to a site like Tripod or Geocities, and set up a free account. You can upgrade later to a paid site if you decide you need more space or more options.

  2. Step 2

Load the images onto your computer that you would like to use for your site. Make sure they are in the public domain, or that you created them yourself and have the right to use them.

  3. Step 3

Go to your web host and log in to your account. Go to the page-editing area and start the web-page building wizard. On Tripod, it is called Sitebuilder.

  4. Step 4

Go through whatever templates are offered, and select the one you want. This will decide how your site is structured and how the sub-pages are connected. Then, select a design motif. This will govern how your new site looks.

  5. Step 5

Go through and replace the template's images with your own. Type in your desired text. Click "Done."
