Although the PSP is primarily a video game device, it also has its own web browser, which uses local wi-fi to allow PSP users access to the Internet. Although the PSPs browser is a little bit on the simplistic side when compared with the iPhone and DSi browser, getting free wi-fi Internet on your PSP is fairly easy, and should take only a few minutes to set up.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wireless Internet hotspot
  1. Step 1

Turn on your PSP, then go all the way to the left side of the cross media bar. You will see a settings icon that looks like a toolbox.

  2. Step 2

Scroll all the way down the settings menu until you reach the "Network Settings" icon. Press X to select this. You will then be asked whether you want to set up an ad-hoc or infrastructure mode. Highlight infrastructure mode, and continue.

  3. Step 3

Select the scan button on the new screen that asks whether you want to scan available networks or enter your own network settings. Then select the network you want to join, enter your security key (if applicable), and then press "X" to connect.

  4. Step 4

Get out of the settings area by pressing the "O" button. Scroll to the right side of the cross-media bar until you see the browser icon. Press the "X" button to enter the browser. If your connection was successful, your home page will display momentarily.
