How to Start a Scrapbook

A scrapbook is a wonderful way to hold onto your family memories forever. Each page can be personalized to reflect the feelings and circumstances of every photo. In order to start a scrapbook you will need to set aside some time to begin. Scrapbooking is a wonderful hobby that can be quite addictive and very time consuming, but you can also whip out a book in just a few hours if you have everything you need handy. Learn how to start a scrapbook using the guide below.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photos Patterned paper Card stock Paper cutter or decorative scissors Archival-quality tape runner or glue Stickers Decorative accents 12-by-12-inch scrapbook sleeves 12-by-12-inch Scrapbook
  1. Step 1

    Choose the photo(s) you want to scrapbook first.

  2. Step 2

    Select a patterned paper that matches the photo(s) you have chosen, either by theme or a distinctive color.

  3. Step 3

    Pick a card stock color that complements the patterned paper.

  4. Step 4

    Cut the card stock 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch larger than the photo(s) you have chosen.

  5. Step 5

    Use glue or a tape runner on the back of the photo(s), and place the photos in the center of the card stock.

  6. Step 6

    Glue the card stock onto the patterned paper.

  7. Step 7

    Cut a small shape of your choice from the remaining card stock.

  8. Step 8

    Glue the shape onto an empty space on the page.

  9. Step 9

    Write personal thoughts or memories about the photo(s).

  10. Step 10

    Add stickers or decorative accents to the empty spaces on the scrapbook page.

  11. Step 11

    Place the scrapbook page into a protective sleeve, and put it into the scrapbook.

  12. Step 12

    Repeat until your scrapbook is full.
