Many gyms provide MMA training. If there is no full MMA gym in your area, find individual training gyms that cater to the many disciplines incorporated into MMA, as noted in the following steps.

Train in traditional boxing. This increases hand speed and teaches striking and defense techniques used in stand-up fighting.

Train in muay thai, a form of kickboxing that originated in Thailand. This will incorporate kicks into your standing game, as well as striking teachniques used inside clinches.

Train in judo and wrestling. These are used as transitional arts that help you bring the fight to the ground or keep your opponent from taking you to the mat.

Train in Brazilian jiu jitsu. This art form is used when the fight is on the ground. It includes submission techniques and processes for reversing position from the bottom.

Fully integrate all of these disciplines into your sparring sessions. It is important to train in these individual aspects and then combine them to get the full benefit of MMA.
