Removing a sunless tan will take a little bit of patience, but with some persistence and a gentle touch, you'll be looking less orange in no time!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baking Soda
  • Water in large quantities!
  • Exfoliating Products
  • Old towels
  1. Step 1

Check yourself out in the mirror. Take a quick inventory of where you have the biggest sunless tan problems. You will want to focus on the darkest and blotchy-est areas to begin with.

  2. Step 2

Now that you know where your biggest "problem areas" are, take a shower, a bath, or a nice long swim. Stay in the water until you are a big prune! Focus on keeping your "problem areas" wet during your shower/bath/swim. Removing sunless tan is essentially removing the top few layers of skin from your body, so you just want to speed up that natural process of shedding skin.

  3. Step 3

When you are in your shower/bath, you can use any exfoliating products that you already have on hand. Don't overdo it, but use these as you normally would. Please read the bottle and make sure that you are only using the product on the parts of your body that it is recommend for. Don't put anything too close to your eyes! That will be much more embarrassing than some easily explainable sunless tanner.

  4. Step 4

Once you are out of the shower, towel yourself off carefully. Don't rub too vigorously, because you don't want to damage your skin. Check yourself in the mirror again - how are you looking? If you are satisfied, stop now! If you are still blotchy, concentrate on your worst areas in the next step.

  5. Step 5

The next thing to do is to get your baking soda out. Massaging baking soda into your damp skin will help to further exfoliate your skin. Baking soda is a much more natural way to exfoliate, anyway. Concentrate on smoothing out blotch-y-ness, not necessarily removing all remnants of the sunless tan. Wash off the baking soda, and assess yourself again! At this point, you might

  6. Step 6

If you have orange palms or the bottoms of your feet, consider using some hydrogen peroxide to help lighten the sunless tan. Some people will have an adverse reaction to hydrogen peroxide, so test first with just a little area to make sure you won't have a bad reaction. Only use this tip on your palms and the bottoms of your feet!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget that all skin is not equal. The skin on your face is much more delicate than the skin on the bottom of your feet or your elbows. Treat your skin gently!
  • Take time between steps if you can to allow your skin to exfoliate naturally.
  • Keep your skin moisturized in between steps - this will keep your skin healthy and it will work for you instead of against you.
  • Do not RUSH! This is a process that you need to go through, so please take your time or you will end up looking red and blotchy!
  • Do not rub vigorously or push hard on your skin - again, this will cause your skin to get red and blotchy - definitely worse than orange and blotchy!
