Step 1
The first thing that you need to know is what is improvisation. Improvisation is the creating or making up different patterns related to the different kind of music that you are playing on the spot with really no practice beforehand.

Now the first way that you can get better at improvisation is when you learn a new lick learn it in other keys so you get more fimiliar with what you are doing.

The next thing that you can do to get better is to learn the major and minor scale on each note.

If you are playing blues, jazz, or boogie woogie style of music i recomend learning as many licks as you can including the blues scale and while you are playing just mess around with with them until you find something that you like.

The next thing in improvisation is not being afraid of messing up while you play, its ok to mess up thats why its called improvisation and guess what the next time you improvise you wont play your mess up again because you get fimiliar with what you are playing and as you play you can play what you are feeling like playing
