How to Use Your Scrap Fabric

Everyone who sews has a bag or bin full of scraps from sewing projects. They seem to overtake your sewing space. Well, have no fear- a solution is near. Make money with your scraps. It can even become a family or church project.

  • Patience, fabric scraps,
  • advertising contacts
  • faith in God
  1. Step 1

    First, gather all the fabric scraps in one central area for easy visibility. Empty all your boxes and bags of fabric. Now sort them out by color grades not types of fabrics. In other words, categorize them by light, medium and dark colors. This will help you have a balanced bag of scraps to sell to the buyer.

  2. Step 2

    Once you have categorized the fabric by colors, decide how many pounds of fabric do you want to place in each bag. Next distribute as best you can from each fabric color pile the poundage. This willl give your newly made product balance of colors. If you have clear garbage bags that's great. However, if you have would like, you can use color tags showing some of the samples inside the scrap bag. Or you can always sale this item "AS IS".

  3. Step 3

    You are now ready to advertise your fabric scraps to the world. Place flyers in local fabric stores. Advertise on internet stores, newspapers,
    fleamarkets your fabric. Set a reasonable price. Quilters and people
    who love decor and appliqueing will want to browse. To avoid surprises,
    describe the variety of fabrics the bags will contain.

    There is no limit to what you can do if you have faith in God. Don't talk yourself out of anything!!

  • You can sale fabric pieces over a yard long.
  • Consider selling 1 yard quilting blocks made from excess fabric
  • You might find more space to create once all the fabric scraps are gone!!
