Things You'll Need:
- Snow
- Can of evaporated milk - Cream
- Vanilla extract
- Sugar
- Large Mixing Bowl
- Mixing Spoon
-
Step 1
Collect a large bowl of snow.
Note * This recipe goes quickly, make sure that you collect enough snow for each person! *
Use a clean, large bowl.
Don't collect snow that has just started falling. Wait until it has piled up an inch or more and after it has been snowing for a while before you collect snow for eating.
Don't eat snow that has been sitting for a while, unless you wipe away the top layer of snow, since it has most likely accumulated some debris. -
Step 2
Now that you have a bowl with fresh snow in it.
Add in a small amount of cream until you get the desired consistency, while mixing with your spoon.
You don't want to "overdo it", when poring in the cream. You want the 'snow cream' to be similar to a slushy in consistency with a little less "slush" and a slight taste of cream.
Depending on how much snow you collect in your bowl, and the level of sweetness that you prefer, simply eyeball the ingredients when adding them into your snow cream. -
Step 3
Add in a few dashes of Vanilla Extract.
(Don't add too much as large amounts of vanilla can get bitter!)
Just add in enough vanilla to give a hint of flavor to the ice cream. -
Step 4
Add in sugar while mixing until the ice cream is sweet enough for your taste.
You can always adjust the flavor at this point adding more snow, vanilla, cream or sugar into the mix until you are happy with the flavor.
It's best to put less of each ingredient into the mix to begin with. That way you don't accidentally add too much cream for your tastes. -
Step 5
Serve vanilla - snow ice cream as is and Enjoy!
Or store in the freezer for up to a month.
This was my favorite part of snow days when I was a kid, I would have no problems making this easy ice cream by myself.
If a responsible adult is present you could substitute the snow for crushed ice if you have the right equipment.
