If you love earrings, but don't have pierced ears, the world of earrings isn't closed off for you! Here's how you can convert most earrings into clip-ons - without anyone every noticing!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pair of earrings with a hole above the decorative portion (I will post a photo example).
  • An set of fish hook earring converters, which can be purchased for $5 or less at an arts and crafts store such as Michael's or via the web.
  • A pair of pliers.
  1. Step 1
Note the round, gold hole above the hoops - this is where you will affix the earring to the converter. (http://www.beadaholique.com/images/PRODUCT/medium/9234.jpg)

Earrings with a hole above the decorative portion are the best option for conversion. See the picture for an example of an earring that could be converted. Use a pair of pliers or scissors to cut off the pierced earring portion, leaving only the top circle and the decorative portion.

  2. Step 2

Loosen the portion of the earring converter that will hold the earring converter, just opening enough to slide the circle of your new earring on!

  3. Step 3

Place the new earring on the converter post and use the pliers to close the opening you created. Make sure it is tightly closed so the earring won't slip off later.

  4. Step 4

If you have not worn clip-on earrings before, it may be necessary to try on the converted earring and wear it only for a couple of hours. The pressure of the clip on earring can cause the ear to itch or be painful.

Tips & Warnings
  • These earring converters can be purchased in either silver or gold, which allows you to blend in the metal of the earring.
  • There are several different converter apparatuses available on the market, such as those that require glue (which often slips off or break easily) or can slide the earring post into the front of the earring (I find these swing and do not look natural or comfortable). In my experience, the earring converter with the hole is your best option.
