Things You'll Need:
- Old Clothing
- Scissors
- Finger-tip less Gloves
- Safety Pins
- Measuring Tape
-
Step 1
The first thing you're going to want to do is gather up some old clothes that you no longer wear. Try to find a cute fabric. I found it easier to use long skirts because of the extra material. Decide how long you want the scarf to be and cut your material according to that.
-
Step 2
After cutting your material the length and width you want, pull up a comfortable chair and grab your scissors and gloves. You're going to want to wear some of the gloves that don't have the fingertips in them, so your hands won't get sore.
-
Step 3
Safety Pin the material pieces together (use as many as you like). After this you're going to start cutting strips all the way around on all sides. I cut mine in 1 1/2 inch strips. This is going to make your hands sore so be sure to have the gloves on.
-
Step 4
After all the strips are cut, start at one side and start tying the strips in knots, just tie them twice. I'm sure you have seen the tie knot quilts that everyone makes, I used the same idea. These are really cute and your kids will love them.
-
Step 5
You can even buy some jewels or iron-on patterns to beauty them up. The first one I made, I used a black velvet skirt, but you can use whatever kind of material you like. I've even thought about making one and putting some of the poly fill stuffing in it.
