Things You'll Need:
- 3/4" wood of your choice
- table saw
- 220 grit sandpaper
- synthetic steel wool
- tack cloth
- tape measure
- stain
- lacquer
- hardware

Step 1
The key to making a good looking wood cabinet door is choosing a good quality wood that has the grain pattern you are looking for. Oak generally has a more noticeable grain and maple has a less noticeable grain. Both will finish nicely.

Step 2
The simplest way to make a good contemporary looking cabinet door believe it or not it to just use a flat 3/4" slab and let the hardware and stain do the talking.

Step 3
Cut each door 20 3/4"L x 13 5/16"W.

Step 4
Sand with 220 grit on all sides. Clean with tack cloth and apply desired stain.

Step 5
Apply 2 coats of lacquer. Lightly sanding with synthetic steel wool and cleaning with tack cloth between coats. Recommend using a sprayer to apply lacquer.

Step 6
Attach hardware 2 inches from edge on the side opposite the hinge edge.

Step 7
Attach hinges 4 inches from top and bottom edge. Recommend adjustable hinges so its easier to get the gaps perfect.
