Things You'll Need:
- jar, clean and dry
- Ink jet stick paper
- ribbon, buttons, embellishments, glue (optional)
-
Step 1
If you save all of your old jars, this step will be much easier. Otherwise, you'll have to see what jars you have in your fridge and pantry and either wait for the one you want to use to empty, or transfer it's contents to another container. Look for a jar with an interesting shape. I used an old wheat germ jar because the glass had a nice pattern on it that looked like it would make an attractive pencil holder.

Step 2
Clean the jar thorougly and remove the label. Once that is done, measure the area where the label was. Add 1/2 inch or so to the length to ensure overlap so you don't have a bare spot on your pencil holder.
-
Step 3
Now, you can use photo editing software to create a label for your pencil holder. I used the scrapbooking option at www.picnik.com. I resized it to roughly the right size before saving it and opening it up in paint and resizing it to the exact specifications I needed. (There are plenty of programs you could use, and many ways to do this. That's just how I created mine.)

Step 4
Load your printer with the sticker paper according to package instructions, and simply print out your sticker.
-
Step 5
Now, carefully cut it out and peel off the backing to stick it onto your pencil holder. Adding some ribbon around the mouth of the jar, or glueing on some embellishments can add to your design.
