How to Make Hard-Boiled Eggs thumbnail
Make the perfect hard-boiled egg.

For a seemingly easy task, cooking hard-boiled eggs frustrates many a cook. Too little time boiling, and you get soft, runny yolks. Too much boiling time yields that unappetizing green tint around the yolk. Strike the right balance by combining a rolling boil with standing water to get the perfect hard-boiled consistency you seek. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Place the eggs in a small saucepan. The smaller the pan, the less room the eggs have to move around. Add enough water to just completely cover the eggs.

    • 2

Cover the pan and bring the water to a rolling boil. Let the eggs cook for one minute.

    • 3

Remove the eggs from the heat and let them stand covered for 12 minutes.

    • 4

Pour off the hot water and run cold water over the eggs so they stop cooking.
