How to Make Homemade Crocheted Cotton Dish Towels

You can make many things with crochet. Believe it or not, you can even crochet dish towels. Crocheted dish towels are excellent choices for your kitchen or to give as gifts. Since homemade items are very popular, most of your friends and acquaintances would love to have one of these great dish towels. This is an easy project even for a beginner. You can hang these off of your stove, cabinet knobs, refrigerator door or just display them for decoration.

• 1 ball cotton yarn--blue 1 ball cotton yarn--red Crochet hook size I

1. With the blue yarn, chain 39, chain 1 and turn.

2. Make a single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across, chain 1 and turn.

3. Make a single stitch in 1st stitch, a double crochet in the next stitch and alternate from single crochet to double crochet in each stitch across; chain 1 and turn.

4. Repeat step number 3 for rows three, four and five. In the last stitch of row 5, change to red, chain 1 and turn.

5. Single crochet in each stitch across, chain 1 and turn. Repeat this step for row 7, changing to blue again.

6. Repeat step 3 and change to red in last stitch, chain 1 and turn.

7. Repeat step 5 for rows 10 and 11.
   Repeat step 6 for rows 12 and 13.
   Repeat step 5 for rows 14 and 15.
   Repeat step 3 for rows 16-48.

8. You will now see your pattern emerge. Repeat steps above in the same order until you reach 64 rows. Fasten off. Make sure you weave in the ends.
