Make Monsy Selling e-books

Making money with e-books can be fun and easy. If you can write a letter to your friend giving advice, you can write a e-book that will sell. You will learn how to write an e-book and self publish it for a profit.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer, possibly a paypal account and time.
  1. Step 1

Writing and selling e-books online is a great way to make money. The best part is, you don't have to have to be an expert in any one topic. Think about a topic that you are knowledgeable in. Everyone knows something about something. Maybe you have knowledge about gardening or scrap booking or even running a tight ship when it comes to your home and family’s schedules. While you make take this knowledge for granted, there are people out there who are completely lost on the subject(s).

  2. Step 2

Most e-books are about five to ten pages in length. Some are longer depending on the complexity of the topic. But what every e-book should have is firm reliable information. After you choose your topic, read about it online. There may be some things you didn't already know. If you find interesting information, include it in your book. Another good practice is to paste links into your e-books so that your reader can reference the information for themselves. Don't focus too much on your opinion. Give your reader what they’ve paid for, which is solid knowledge. Give them facts, information, and the “how to's” that have actually worked in your own personal experiences.

  3. Step 3

Withholding information can only lead to weak sales. For instance, many people read e-books to get information on hobbies. But many also read them to learn how to make money. If you know how to make money by say, domain parking, and in your book you skip around the information that teaches people exactly how to accomplish this, you've just ruined your rep. If people get something out the information you have to offer, they will certainly become a returning customer.

  4. Step 4

Which brings me to my next topic. Since e-books are generally short, you can certainly write one in several hours. For example, if you write a book about how to make money parking domains, you'll want to write another book. Perhaps you should follow up with a book about how to auction domain names. Then perhaps you will add another book about how to make money through affiliate programs. If they’ve read your first book and I delivered, they will most likely recommend it to a friend and think seriously about returning to you for their next acquisition of a knowledgeable e-book.

  5. Step 5

Now, once you’ve written your book, edit and polish it. Now you’re ready to self publish. You can do this by using a free self publishing website. Payloadz.com, lulu.com and Amazon.com are all places that you can sell your e-book. Payloadz.com will host your e-book and pay into your paypal account when a person buys your book. Lulu.com works in a similar manner. Amazon.com is a bit different. You will need to go to mobipocket.com in and sign up for a free account in order to put your book onto Amazon.com. It is a very simple process.

  6. Step 6

Remember, once your book is up, you’ll want to create more in order to gain exposure. If I click on a book about parenting on lulu.com, I can see every other that author has written. I may also see that the author has written a book about how to get out of debt, or how to save for your child’s college. I will remember that and if the book is insightful, I will more likely return and purchase other books that author has.

on 5/23/2009 Good advice. I've saved this to my favorites. When I need a break from writing eHow articles, I'll read this again and see what I can come up with. 5*s
