How to Get a High School Diploma for Free

Having a high school diploma is a must in today's job market. Ideally, you would get your diploma before entering the job market, but that is not always possible. Fortunately, there are ways to get your diploma for little or no cost.

Instructions

1. Attend your local public high school. Complete enough credits and you will earn your diploma. Some schools even have night classes or work-study programs that will allow you to work while finishing your credits.

2. Register for an online public high school. Also free, these schools allow you to learn from home while earning a high school diploma.

3. Take the General Equivalency Exam and earn a GED certificate. Not exactly a diploma, but free nonetheless.

4. Be home-schooled and have your parent, or whoever was in charge of your home-schooling, create the diploma.

5. Use your life experience and work history to get a diploma from an online source. Generally costing between $200 and $300, these diplomas, while not free, require the least amount of class work.

• Be careful about keeping records of transcripts of all of your coursework.
