Remember how much fun it was to make necklaces out of macaroni? I used to love making pasta jewelry and my poor mother was forced to wear many of my creations. Kids can still have fun with this craft! And it's not just for macaroni anymore! Pasta comes in all shapes and sizes and it's cheap! You can have hundreds of beads for just a couple bucks!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • dry pasta in all shapes
  • rubbing alcohol
  • food coloring
  • bowls or zip lock bags
  • paper plates or wax paper
  1. Step 1

Pour some rubbing alcohol in a bowl or zip lock bag and add a few drops of food coloring. You can mix food colors for different color beads. Then add the beads and mix well. Let the beads sit for a minute to absorb the color. Then dry them on paper plates or wax paper over night.

  2. Step 2

When the pasta is dry you will have a beautiful variety of beads to make awesome jewelry. Or you can use the pasta for other arts and crafts. You can even just fill a clear jar with the colorful gems and use as a vase for dry flowers. Colored pasta shells are great for this!

  3. Step 3

But the classic pasta art is the good old fashioned necklace. Just string some up on some yarn or twine and mom will love it! Click on the photo on the left to see just how beautiful a pasta necklace can be! Okay, so it's still just a plain old pasta necklace... but mom will wear it with pride!
