How to keg and carbonate your own home brew beer!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Filled co2 tank
  • Cornelius keg "corny keg"
  • Fittings and attachments
  1. Step 1
    No Bleach
    No Bleach

    Step one to Force Carbonate And Keg Home Brew Beer.
    Clean and sanitise your keg with a non bleach sanitizer.
    Bleach reacts to stainless steel and will corrode.

  2. Step 2
    Fill Keg
    Fill Keg

    Step two to Force Carbonate And Keg Home Brew Beer.
    Remove lid off corny keg.
    Siphon or pour home brew beer into corny keg.
    Check to make sure the lid seal is in Good condition.
    Place and secure lid back onto the corny keg.

  3. Step 3
    Purge air
    Purge air

    Step three to Force Carbonate And Keg Home Brew Beer.
    Attach co2 hose to the outlet of the corny keg.
    turn knob of the co2 tank to allow co2 to flow into the keg.
    Set the psi on the co2 tank' s regulator to 30psi.
    Pull up on the bleeder valve on the lid of the corny keg for 10 seconds to release any trapped air inside the keg. If you corny keg' s lid came without a bleeder valve you can also press on the center of the inlet hose attachment to release any trapped air.

    Shake
    Shake

    Step four to Force Carbonate And Keg Home Brew Beer.
    Disconnect co2 tank from corny keg.
    Place corny keg inside a fridge for 24 hours to bring its temperature down to serving temperature.
    Remove keg from fridge once it has dropped to serving temperature.
    Reattach co2 tank to the outlet of the corny keg.
    turn on co2 tank to allow co2 to enter the corny keg.
    Shake the corny keg vigorously for 20 seconds to allow co2 to become trapped in the beer wait until you no longer hear gurgling or the sound of co2 coming from the tank. repeat shaking of the corny keg for around 5 min.

    Let settle
    Let settle

    Step five to Force Carbonate And Keg Home Brew Beer.
    Place keg back into fridge for a couple hours to let it settle.
    connect tap line to outlet of keg.
    Slowly release extra pressure from the keg by pulling on the valve or pushing on the inlet hose attachment.
    Adjust pressure from co2 tank to around 5psi.
    Attach co2 tank to corny keg

  6. Step 6

    Pour beer.

Tips & Warnings
  • If beer comes out to foamy release more pressure from the pressure valve and let sit for 5 min
  • If beer rushes out the tap adjust the psi setting on the co2 regulator
