It is beneficial to cap off a heavy training workout with a high protein weight gain smoothie. This smoothie is loaded in calories, protein, carbs, and fat. It is very nutritious as well with very little sugar. Try it today.

Feel free to alter ingredients to your liking or based on what you have. I listed all possible ingredients, however, the only true ingredients you must have are milk, yogurt, oatmeal, and protein powder. All others can be added to your liking. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Blender
  • Instant Oatmeal
  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Walnuts
  • Protein Powder
  • Fruit
  • Flax Seeds (optional)
  • Peanut Butter (optional)
  • Creatine or other supplements (optional)

Instructions

      Heat up 1 to 2 packets (depending on how many carbs you prefer) of Instant Oatmeal and pour in blender.

      Add protein powder and/or creatine or other supplements to the blender. Mix with Oatmeal so that powder does not stick to sides of blender.

      Add fruit (fresh bananas and/or frozen or fresh strawberries or blueberries work well). Also add yogurt (1-2 cups). You can choose sugar free, flavored, plain, Greek, etc. Any yogurt works. Plain yogurt works the best.

      Add Walnuts and Ice. Then add any optional ingredients including flax seed, supplements, or peanut butter.

      Pour milk on top until saturated. (Use whatever milk variety you are comfortable with, I prefer 2% for this smoothie).

      Blend. Once you have a liquid you can pour and serve. This generally makes 3-4 glasses. You can save it overnight by putting it in a shaker bottle and storing it in the refrigerator. Then when you use it just shake it up and drink.

Tips & Warnings

  • Customize the smoothie to your liking, the ingredients list is a guide.

  • Vanilla protein powder and vanilla or plain yogurt works best otherwise there is too many flavors. If you only have flavored yogurt try to match the yogurt flavor to the fruit you choose.

  • Check with your doctor or dietitian before drinking if you have a history of heart disease, diabetes, or other condition.
