Step 1
You can only unlock this achievement in a capture the flag game. Start a matchmaking game in any skirmish gametype to find a capture the flag game. Veto each gametype until you find a capture the flag game on Halo 3.

Step 2
Go after your enemy flag. Once you have the flag, try hiding in corners until an enemy player comes out and then melee. If you kill your enemy with the flag, you will unlock the Defend This achievement in Halo 3.

Step 3
Alternatively, you can get 7 of your friends together and start a social skirmish game. Wait until you find a capture the flag game and have your friends allow you to kill them with the flag. This is a very fast and easy way to get the Defend This achievement in Halo 3.
