Things You'll Need:
- staying in a hotel or motel
-
Step 1
Don't leave valuables in a pick free safe in your hotel room. Try finding a place deep in some article of clothing even where it would take time to search for it. The best tactic is to rent space with the hotel to hold your important items. Many hotels have this service for free.
-
Step 2
Keep a light, TV and or radio on when you are out. Give the illusion that you are in the room at all times.
-
Step 3
Put the do not disturb sign on your door when you are out early in the morning if you really do not need maid service. This gives you the power of authorization as to who is allowed into your hotel room. For a week or more stay consider only using maids for a couple of days.
-
Step 4
Don't keep travelers checks and or cash in one pocket or place. Always separate and spread your monies around the premise and on your person. Should you be in a position for someone to take something, at least they will not get all of it. Hotel theft of traveler checks becomes a big inconvenience and takes time away from vacations.
-
Step 5
Keep a copy of your laptop data if you can. Buy a program and copy the hard drive before you go away. At least if something happens to it, you will have the information before the day of your vacation or hotel stay.
