Things You'll Need:
- hundreds of plastic eggs
- small Easter toys, stickers, tattoos etc
- bags and bags and bags of candy- jellybeans, chocolate foil eggs, marshmallow Peeps, etc
- brown paper bags or large decorative plastic treat bags or a collection of old baskets
-
Step 1
The right invite. Make a list of who will be invited to the Easter Egg Hunt so that you can figure out how many children will be there and what ages they are. Choose cute pre-printed or homemade invitations with Easter egg or Easter bunny designs in lots of pretty pastel colors.
-
Step 2
Collect plastic eggs and items for 'stuffing.' Estimate at least ten eggs for each child. Use Easter-themed stickers, erasers, tattoos, and other tiny toys you can find at a craft store or on Oriental Trading. Of course, classic Easter candy like jellybeans, pastel M&Ms, marshmallow Peeps, foil-covered chocolate eggs, etc make the perfect plastic egg fillers.
-
Step 3
HIDE! Hide your eggs outside in the yard or at a park, or inside if it's raining. Make some eggs harder to find for the older kids. Consider color-coding your eggs, so for instance the blue eggs can only be 'found' by kids under age 4, etc. Otherwise the older kids will find too many 'easy' eggs and the little guys won't get a chance.
-
Step 4
Give kids something in which to collect their treasures. On the invitation you could encourage kids to bring their own baskets, but some kids will forget, so have some extra baskets or some large brown paper bags available. If you use brown paper bags, you could even have kids decorate them- and definitely have them add their names!

on 3/30/2009 These are some great ideas. We hide eggs for the kids every year and we've found some really creative places too! Thanks for sharing!
