Step 1
My favorite way to use aluminum foil creatively is to keep the pets off furniture or counters where they're not wanted. Dogs and cats HATE the feel of aluminum foil and will do anything to get away from it. Line counters with aluminum foil to keep cats down where they belong or line a chair seat to keep Fido firmly planted on the floor (or, well, on another chair...).
-
Step 2
Sharpen old scissors to razor sharp with aluminum foil. Take a sheet and fold it 4 or 5 times on itself. Cut through the foil with the scissors 4 or 5 times and you'll find that the scissors are much sharper after this cheap sharpening treatment.
-
Step 3
Use a ball of aluminum foil for a few tasks around the houseBall up 10" of aluminum foil and use it to clean the grill. Works about the same as a grill brush but much cheaper and always on hand (can anyone ever find their grill brush?!). While we're on the topic of balled up aluminum foil. ball up another piece, wet it slightly, and then use it to remove rust spots from the chrome on your car. Works fine!

Step 4
Another of my favorite uses for aluminum foil is to make mouth-watering ribs. See my article around here somewhere - if nowhere else, it's in the resource section. These ribs really do fall off the bone and are totally delicious! Use it to line the pan when making delicious saltine toffee crack cookies (in resource section also).

Step 5
I rarely decorate cakes (being decorating-challenged) but you can easily make an icing piping tool by forming aluminum foil into a cone with a point at the end. Add icing and squeeze. Voila, an icing tool! Although I rarely decorate cakes, I do bake quite a bit and frequently find that I don't have the right sized pan. Rather than go buy one (which you'd think I'd do...) I use aluminum foil to form a shape, pour in the batter and away we go. You can get really creative and even make heart shaped cakes this way - well, I told everyone it was heart shaped...
-
Step 6
Foiled again! Yes, he got a bone out of the deal...Lastly, and maybe most importantly, use it to protect your dog's brain from enemy invaders. Killian is protected but the rest are at full risk...their loss...

on 3/17/2009 How to Use Aluminum Foil Creatively is a keeper! You had me worried though: I didn't think you were going to get into the hat thing 'cause you saved it for last! 'Killian' (wink) gets the hat... I always tell 'em the hats are for my CAT, Sam... but WE know, right? I even have a special hat I use on St. Paddy's day (green foil) and I haven't been abducted for..... well; A while. Great tips and pics. Thanks for another outstanding article!
