You can find sources of discontinued cosmetics.

"Discontinued" is a terrible word to hear when you go to buy your favorite makeup. For months, you may have been liberally using your favorite shade not knowing that it might be the last of it you would find. When you went to the store to restock, you found that you had to change your signature look because your favorite makeup is not available. If you feel you absolutely must have more of your favorite discontinued cosmetic, you may still have some options. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Call the cosmetic line's customer service department. Companies don't advertise this service, but many brands keep discontinued cosmetics for a couple of years and sell directly to customers. Ask about leftovers you can buy. The customer service representative also may be able to refer you to an outlet or website where you can buy the discontinued cosmetics. If no leftovers are available, the rep may be able to suggest a close match you can try instead or let you know if your old favorite is scheduled for a comeback under a different name.

Have a specialty company recreate it for you if all else fails. Companies such as Three Custom usually sell to makeup artists who work for celebrities. Such companies can match the shade and even the texture of your old favorite, but for a price.

Take advantage of programs called Gone but not Forgotten and Farewell Favorites if the discontinued makeup was manufactured by Estee Lauder. You may purchase up to six items through these programs.
