Adding video to your Ebay listings can help make your item stand out from all the others! Chances are, there are several sellers in Ebay offering the same item that you are. A video showing and describing whatever you are selling can increase your sales simply because it is a great way to give potential buyers more information about the item. Buyers feel more confident about a purchase when they have more details about it. So, get on your computer and learn How to Easily Add Video To Your Ebay Listings!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ebay Account
  • Photobucket Account
  • Video Camera
  1. Step 1
    Upload Your Video To Photobucket

    Upload Your Video To Photobucket

First, you will need to get your video saved onto your computer. This is done in different ways depending on the device you are using. Refer to your device's instructions, but this can involve hooking up a USB cord to your video camera and computer, or inserting a flash card into your computer's card reader.

Then, create a Photobucket Account if you don't already have one. Go to www.photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. It is a very short and simple process. Your Photobucket account allows you to easily upload videos to their site. You can create Albums where you store videos that are related in some way, or you can simply upload all your videos to your main account page. With Photobucket, you can edit your videos by adding such things as superimposed titles. Once you have your account, you can upload videos that you want to add to your Ebay listing. Sign into your Photobucket account, and at the top of the Photobucket page there is a box that says, "Upload Images & Video". Click on "Choose Files", and this will allow you to choose videos to upload from your computer, a web url, cell phone, or email. Select the video you want and it will be uploaded to your account. The newest video uploaded will appear in the upper left of your main album page. Leave this web page open.

  2. Step 2
    Edit Your Video In Photobucket

Once you have uploaded your video, you can do some simple editing to it within Photobucket. Directly above your uploaded video, there are four links: EDIT, MOVE, SHARE, DELETE. Click on EDIT, and this will take you to page where you can customize your video. In this section, you can: Add Photos or Video, Add Text and Stickers, Add A Border, Add Music, and Add Transitions. After you have made your changes, look underneath your video for buttons that say PREVIEW, PUBLISH, or UNDO. Before you publish your video, preview it to be sure you like the changes you have made. Once you are satisfied with your finished product, click on PUBLISH. You will be asked to give your remixed video a title, and then it will be processed and saved.

  3. Step 3
Add Your Video To Your Ebay Listing

Open the Ebay website in another browser page. Click on "Sell" and start making your listing to sell your item. Scroll down to the "Describe The Item You're Selling" section. This is where you can add your videos from your Photobucket account. There are two tabs at the top of this section. They say "Standard" and "HTML". The "Standard" view is the default view that you always see first. Click on the "HTML" tab. You will see a blank page and a flashing cursor. Now go back to your still open Photobucket page. Find the video that you want to add to your listing. Just above the video, click on the link that says SHARE. The SHARE box pops up, and you will then click on the GET LINK CODE tab. Go down to the HTML FOR WEBSITES and BLOGS section and click in the box to the left of where it says FULL SIZE so that the code there is highlighted. Copy this code by pressing the "ctrl" and "c" keys on your keyboard (Ctrl+c). With this code copied, go back to the "Describe The Item You're Selling" section on your Ebay listing page. Press the Ctrl and v keys (Ctrl+v) and this will paste the HTML code for your picture into your listing. Click on the "Standard" tab at the top of this section and, if everything went as it should, your video will be there! It may not show up for you to view while you are in the edit mode, but when you save your listing and view it, you will see it. It is there for your potential customers to click on and see more detail about your item.

  4. Step 4

You can add videos to all your listings using this method. If you put your video in your listing before you add any text as described above, you can enter text around it as you go. Once the video is pasted in, you can move it around wherever you want it in your listing by left-clicking it and then dragging and dropping it. You can also enter your text first, click on the "HTML" tab, and then look for the words in your listing where you want to put your video. When you find the text, click either before or after it so the cursor starts flashing there, and then key in Ctrl+v to paste your picture in.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use videos in your listing that actually help sell the item. Make them short and to the point so they load and play quickly.
  • Show your item up close in the video so that potential buyers can see it's details. If it has any flaws or defects, show these, and describe them in the video.
  • It isn't always necessary to add borders, transitions, or music to your videos, as this can make them look gimmicky if overdone. Sometimes, your videos are good just as they are!
