Things You'll Need:
- Treats to lure the leprechaun out
- Something to trap him in
- 'Treasure' for your children
- Gold glitter (optional)
-
Step 1
The first thing you'll be wanting to do is to place your leprechaun bait in a nice, sunny place. The wee little folk love to sit in the sun and nibble on sweet things, so try leaving out a few marshmallows or gum drops in a nice, sunny, quiet spot somewhere in your house or garden. Have your children help pick the spot and choose the leprechaun treats.
-
Step 2
To catch your leprechaun you'll need a very clever trap! A box propped up on a stick is a great trap, as is a bowl that can be dropped over the unsuspecting little guy. It doesn't have to be too complicated, as your leprechaun will be so full and sleepy he probably won't even try to escape, at least not at first!
-
Step 3
Leave your trap set and send your wee little ones off to school or play, just so long as they are not close by to your trap. You don't want to scare your leprechaun away now, do you? After a little while, go and spring your 'trap'. Fetch your 'treasure' that you will leave for your children and place it inside of your trap. Sprinkle gold glitter all around. Tell your children that you've caught a real, live, leprechaun and he's just waiting to give them a treasure! When they open the trap they'll be just a bit disappointed that the little guy has managed to escape, but their 'treasure' will more than make up for it! Don't feel too bad, after all, leprechauns are far to clever to be caught by silly humans anyway!
