We all have a bunch of sunglasses that one lens has fallen out of. Pop out the other lens and glue on embellishments and you have instant kids dress up masks. Just add kitty ears, or bunny ears to the top of the frame, or sparkly beads and feathers around the frame for a Mardi gras type mask for an adult.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • old sunglass frames
  • glue or glue gun
  • beads, feathers
  • construction paper or metallic wrap
  1. Step 1

Gather old sunglass frames and construction paper, beads, feathers, markers and what ever else you need, depending on what kind of mask you are making.
Glitter makes a good addition to the project. You can make them fancy or plain. For kids they like it fairly simple add ears to the top and whiskers to the bottom. Glue a pair of antennae to the top if it is a bug or an alien. You can add noses too, like for bunny, puppies, kittens.

  2. Step 2

One of the reasons these work great is there is no string or elastic to put over your head, you just use the ear pieces so you don't mess up your hair or have to worry about taking hats on and off to put on your mask. You can add mustaches to them too and cover just one eye for pirates. You get the idea.

  3. Step 3

Since the ear pieces fold they can be stored flat in a box or play drawer until the next time you want to wear them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let the kids help pick the colors and designs and you help them glue them on.
  • Wrap the frames with colorful pipe cleaners for a fuzzy effect.
  • If using a hot glue gun an adult should be doing this, never let a child use a hot glue gun, they get very hot and will burn little hands.
  • Cover your table or work area with butcher paper or a dollar store tablecloth and clean up is quick and easy.
