This is an easy, inexpensive method of preparing a beef brisket either for serving as part of a plated meal or a barbeque on a bun.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase a 3 1/2 pound beef brisket. You may use a corned beef brisket but rinse it well and don't use the small bag of seasonings included. Poke holes on both sides of the brisket and place in a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

  2. Step 2

Make a marinade by combining 1/2 cup lemon juice, 1 can consomme (low-salt beef stock or broth may be substituted), 2 ounces Wright's Natural Hickory Seasoning (often called liquid smoke), dash of garlic powder and 2 ounces soy sauce. Pour mixture over brisket, cover and refrigerate 12 hours. Turn brisket at least once during this time.

  3. Step 3

Remove from refrigerator and place in a 350 degree oven and bake for 3 1/2 hours turning at least once during baking time.

You will be amazed by how tender the brisket is. It will serve 6 to 8 persons and may be sliced or shredded for a barbecue sandwich. Slaw is a great accompaniment.
