make a St. Louis-style pizza

St. Louis-style pizza is a favorite among mid-westerners. Its thin crust holds a flavor that is unmistakably good. But how can you enjoy that famous style of pizza if you live outside of St. Louis? Follow these steps (thanks, Dad) and enjoy a quick and inexpensive pizza that tastes like it was just delivered from your favorite St. Louis pizzeria.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cookie sheet
  • Soft 10-inch flour tortillas
  • Grated cheese of your choice (Provel cheese recommended)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Pizza sauce
  • Favorite toppings (sausage, pepperoni, ham, onions, black olives, etc.)
  • Oven
  1. Step 1

Place a 10-inch soft flour tortilla on a cookie sheet and spread on the tortilla a thin layer of pizza sauce with a spoon.

  2. Step 2

Grate a liberal amount of cheese on top of the sauce-covered tortilla. (St. Louis original Provel cheese is highly recommended. See Web site below for ordering Provel cheese.)

  3. Step 3

Place your choice of toppings on the pie. (Sausage, onions and tomatoes are recommended.)

  4. Step 4

Sprinkle a liberal amount of grated Parmesan cheese on top of your pie.

  5. Step 5

Bake the pie in the oven at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes (or until Parmesan cheese is lightly brown).

  6. Step 6

Let the pizza cool, cut into square pieces and enjoy!
