There are many different ways to get a mixed martial arts fight to the ground. One of the most common ways is with the double leg takedown. Also the double leg takedown is a quick and effective way of taking your opponent down.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A willing partner
  • Wrestling mat/soft ground
  1. Step 1

Start off in your boxing stance with your power hand back. So if your right handed your left foot is forward. To set the double leg up for mixed martial arts throw the left jab.

  2. Step 2

When your jab comes back lower your level by squatting down a little ways. Step your left foot deep aiming for your foot to land in-between your partners feet.

  3. Step 3

As your coming in you want your head to end up on your partners left hip. Your shoulder should drive right into your partners stomach. Reach both hands behind your partners knees and grab onto the meaty part of the leg right behind the knee.

  4. Step 4

Pinch the knees together and drive at a forty-five degree angle to 10 o'clock. Use the side of your head to drive your opponent in that direction. As he falls follow with him and pass his legs so you land directly into side control.

Tips & Warnings
  • Shoot deep on your partner and imagine that he is a foot behind where he is standing. This will aid in you getting extra deep.
  • Take your partner down gently in training.
