Instructions

    • 1

Turn in judges' paperwork that is free of errors and features interesting details about yourself that you don't mind talking about.

    • 2

During preparation, do one of the following every day: read the main headlines on the newspaper, watch a 24-hours news network or nightly news for at least 30 minutes or read a news website for at least 30 minutes to stay informed of current events.

    • 3

Have someone ask you questions based on your submitted paperwork and the latest news; the more practice you get, the better.

    • 4

At least once, practice answering questions in your interview attire. This will allow you to move more freely and make expressions that are more pleasant. Make eye contact with each judge during the interview. If you don't know an answer, say so. It's better to be honest than to waste time on a question you can't answer.

    • 5

When your time is up, thank the judges and smile as you leave the room. Even if you feel the interview went badly, don't let your body language say so until the door is closed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to inject some personality into your interview. If a question relates to a story about you, share it. It makes you more memorable. Always be prepared to answer this question: "Why should we select you as the winner?"
