First make sure that you make the most of your employee's talents and abilities. Ask the staff what their strengths are and what types of work they enjoy. Typically they will do best at things that they are good at and enjoy. Therefore try to assign them duties based on those strengths.

Now make sure that you are effective with delegation and trust your employees. If you delegate something and then micromanage you might as well do it yourself- in fact you would be better doing it yourself so that there is not two people doing the same job. In order to be effective and encourage your staff to produce you must set the standards and trust that they will meet them.

Last but certainly not least make sure to give credit when it is due. You do not want to frivolously give out credit and accolades because them they would mean nothing. However, if someone does something out of the normal and outstanding make sure to thank them for the group in public so they feel the reward. This will encourage them to continue producing that level of work, plus encourage others to do the same thing.
