Make The World's Best Sour Cream Cake

This cake is perfect for your coffee table. Boasting a rich cardamom spiciness and the perfect warm feel, it doesn't need any icing. Your guests will beg for more!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 drops almond extract
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • tube pan (buttered)
  1. Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine your eggs, sour cream, almond extract, and sugar.

  2. Step 2

Sift your flour with the salt, cinnamon, cardamom, and baking soda. Carefully add it to the liquid mixture in the bowl. Beat until you have a smooth, well mixed batter.

  3. Step 3

Pour into your tube pan. Make sure it is well buttered. If you skip this step, your cake will stick to the pan. Plus, butter adds a yummy, flaky, buttery outside to the cake. Margarine isn't as nice.

  4. Step 4

Bake at 350 degrees F (176 C) for one hour or until a toothpick comes clean. If you do not have a toothpick, a fork will work fine.

  5. Step 5

Cool for 15 to 20 minutes. Then carefully tip the cake out of the oven. Garnish as you wish, or just serve warm! Delicious.

Tips & Warnings
  • This cake does not like to be overbaked.
  • If you want a frosting, a light vanilla frosting works well.
