Bunions can be both unsightly and very painful. While you may not be able to correct the look of your bunion, there are things you can do to relieve bunion pain.

  1. Step 1

    Wear comfortable shoes. Yes, this is very good advice but it’s so hard for women to choose sensible shoes over fashionable ones. Most are willing to endure the bunion pain over looking unfashionable. You can pick shoes that are both fashionable and comfortable. Just remember to look for one with a low heel and a wide toe area to accommodate your bunion. Do not go for shoes that are pointed as this will crowd your toes and further aggravate your bunion.

  2. Step 2

    To further relieve bunion pain, wear sneakers when walking distances. If you walk a few blocks from your car to your office or are going to be running errands before visiting friends., have a pair of sneakers to slip into while you’re walking around. When you need to look nice, slip back on your more fashionable shoes. With less stress on you r bunion, the pain will be reduced as well.

    Look into bunion slings and braces. When you’re at home relaxing without your shoes, is a good time to try correcting the bunion while helping to ease bunion pain. Check out the link below for some common types of bunion slings and braces.

    You can also protect your bunion and relieve pain with a gel bunion sleeve. This is a gel sleeve that you can wear with shoes to protect your bunion from painful friction and rubbing. It helps by relieving the painful pressure on your bunion even while out and about.

    If your bunion is very sore, putting an ice pack over the aching area is a good way to reduce the pain. This is a good remedy when you have been on your feet most of the day or your bunion is aggravated by a tight pair of shoes.

    Consult a doctor. Some bunions are so bad that they require medical assistance or even surgery. Only your doctor can tell you what is best for your situation as everyone’s is different. Your doctor may be able to refer you to a specialist if your bunions require treatment.
